Cowboys Selected to Compete at 2008 Indoor Nationals

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team was one of 16 teams selected to participate in the 2008 ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships, it was announced Monday. The event, hosted by the University of Washington, will be held February 15-18 in Seattle. The Cowboys have plenty of reasons to be excited entering their 2008 campaign. OSU is ranked 11th in the preseason ITA poll and has two players in the top 15. Sophomore Oleksandr Nedovyesov is ranked ninth in the country and senior Ivan Puchkarov is ranked 15th. “I think it is a great compliment to our program to be selected to this tournament three times in the last four years, and we are very excited to represent the Big 12 in such a great event,” said Cowboy head coach James Wadley. “It also says a lot about our team to go in to the season ranked 11th.  “We are obviously led by Ivan and Oleksandr,” Wadley said. “Ivan has been there a few times before and has shown how good of a player he is and Oleksandr came out last year and established himself as one of the best players in the country. Also, we have three more players coming in the spring that we feel will really help us out.”  Further information regarding the tournament will be released next week.
