Cowgirl Basketball Earns First Road Win Of Season

The Cowgirls (5-0) struggled to get into their rhythm offensively in the first half, shooting just 35 percent from the floor. However, OSU was able to maintain a lead for most of the period due to an active defense that forced the Highlanders (0-4) into 12 turnovers and a 36-percent shooting effort.
OSU built the biggest lead held by either team at 28-21with five minutes remaining before UC Riverside closed with eight of the final 10 points, including a 3-pointer as time ran out to trail 30-29 at the break.
The Cowgirls were able to push the margin into double figures five minutes into the second half as sophomore Andrea Riley converted an old-fashioned 3-point play to extend the lead to 47-36.
The
Senior Danielle Green chipped in with the second double-double of her career, finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The
Senior Maria Cordero and junior Shaunte' Smith also reached double figures with 12 points apiece.
