Cowgirl Basketball Rolls Past Sam Houston State, 90-36

The Cowgirl dominated from the start, racing out to a 21-4 lead in the first half despite hitting just one of their 14 shots from beyond the 3-point line in the period. OSU did hit 47 percent of its shots from the floor and forced the Bearkats (0-4) into 17 turnovers in the half en route to a 41-20 lead at the break.
In the second half, OSU shot a blistering 63 percent while holding SHSU to a 21 percent clip to outscore the Bearkats 49-16 over the final 20 minutes.
Four of OSU's five starters reached double figures in the scoring column. Sophomore Andrea Riley led the charge with 18 points in just 17 minutes and five steals. Senior Maria Cordero hit six of her nine shots on her way to 13 points, while senior Danielle Green and junior Shaunte' Smith each had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore Megan Byford turned in her best performance as a Cowgirl with 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Britney Harris and Deltrice Daniel finished as the Bearkats' top scorers with eight points apiece.
The Cowgirls will return to action next week with their first road trip of the season when they head to California to take on UC Riverside and Fresno State.
