Cowgirl Basketball Knocks Off Lamar, 91-54

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season after defeating Lamar, 91-54, on Monday night in front of 1,101 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
For the second consecutive outing, OSU used a strong offensive performance in the second half to pull away against the Lady Cardinals (1-1). The Cowgirls eclipsed the 50-point mark for the second-straight game, erupting for 53 points in the second half.
Defensively, the Cowgirls forced 21 turnovers and held Lamar to a 28 percent shooting night, including a 1-of-16 effort from beyond the 3-point line.
Junior Taylor Hardeman fueled the OSU offense in the first half, scoring 14 of her 16 points to send the Cowgirls into the intermission with a 38-22 lead. The Norman, Okla. native made seven of her 10 shots, including a 2-of-3 performance from beyond the arc.
Lamar cut the lead to 10 three minutes into the second half before the Cowgirls pulled away with an 18-4 run that included nine points from sophomore Andrea Riley. The sophomore from Dallas finished with a game-high 19 points and six assists . For the second consecutive game, Riley set a new career high with seven steals.
Senior Maria Cordero logged her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 assists. The Santa Barbara, Calif. native also blocked three shots and had two assists before fouling out with five minutes remaining.
Junior Shaunte' Smith also reached double figures with 10 points and added seven rebounds.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Wednesday night when they host High Point at 7 p.m.
