STILLWATER, Okla. Â Oklahoma State's men's tennis team will be represented this weekend as two Cowboy netters will compete in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
Senior Ivan Puchkarov and sophomore Oleksandr Nedovyesov will compete in the 32-player singles draw of the tournament. Nedovyesov received an automatic bid to the tournament because of his top-10 national ranking, while Puchkarov earned an at-large bid because of his No. 15 ranking and his semifinals finish at the Central Region Championships last weekend.
Cowboy head coach James Wadley, who is now in his 36th season at OSU, says he is excited to have two players playing in the national tournament.
“Obviously it speaks well of our team to have two players in the top 32 in the country,” said Wadley. “Each of them has played extremely well up to this point and we are excited for them to play in such a competitive tournament.”
In first-round action, Nedovyesov will be matched up against Harvard's Dan Nguyen, while Puchkarov will face Greg Ouellette of Florida.
The tournament, which is being hosted by Ohio State at The Racquet Club of Columbus, will begin Thursday morning and continue through Sunday.
