Cowboy Netters Advance At Regional Championship

After winning his first two matches on Thursday, Ivan Puchkarov took on Tulsa's Ross Cunningham of Tulsa in the round of 16. After dropping the first set, 3-6, the Cowboy senior bounced back to claim the next two sets at 6-3 and 6-4 to move into tomorrow's matchup with Marko Ballok of Arkansas-Little Rock.
Sophomore Dmytro Petrov also advanced to the weekend after knocking off Tiago Espirito Santo of Wichita State in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Petrov will play Tulsa's Ricardo Soriano in his quarterfinal match.
In doubles action, Petrov teamed with sophomore Oleksandr Nedvyesov to win a pair of matches on Friday and advance to the quarterfinal round, while Puckarov and junior Nathan Byrnes fell in the round of 32.
Play will resume tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. and will include both the quarterfinals and semifinals of singles and doubles.
