Bowman joins Cowboy Basketball squad

“Adarius and I had a great conversation today and I'm excited to announce that he's going to join the basketball team and begin practicing with us tomorrow (Monday),” said Sutton. “I've been really impressed while visiting with him at how sharp he is. And, he's got a great personality.”
Bowman, 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, was named All-Big 12 first team on the football field this past season as a wide receiver after racking up 1,181 yards and 12 touchdowns.
“Playing basketball was something I did growing up,” said Bowman. “It's something I love to do. My mom wants to see me do it. This will be a great experience for me.”
Bowman was a finalist for the Mr. Basketball award for Division II in Tennessee after having won the title of Mr. Football in the fall of his senior year. He also led Notre Dame High School to the state Final Four his sophomore and senior seasons.
“I've been around for a while, so I'm looking forward to the challenge,” said Bowman. “I'm a very competitive person and just want to win. I'm not trying to be the leading scorer or anything like that. I've got good jumping ability, so if they want me to rebound, or play defense, or whatever they want me to do, I'll do it.”
“I visited with (head football coach) Mike (Gundy) earlier today and he's very supportive of Adarius' decision,” Sutton said. “I appreciate him allowing Adarius to come out and play basketball.”
“Adarius is obviously an outstanding athlete and will definitely help us with our depth situation,” said Sutton. “We're looking forward to him joining the team.”
