Postgame Notes vs. Southwestern State
January 03, 2007 | Cowboy Basketball
Oklahoma State's 129 points against Southwestern State Tuesday night are a school record. The previous record was 127 points against Santa Fe on Dec. 3, 1977.
The Cowboys' 52-point margin of victory against the Bulldogs is the largest since Dec. 4, 2004, when OSU defeated Washington State 81-29, also 52 points.
Senior forward Mario Boggan scored a career-high 36 points against the Bulldogs. His 13 free-throws made are also a career best.
Boggan and junior guard JamesOn Curry scored 36 and 31 points, respectively against SWOSU. It is just the second time in school history that two players have scored 30 or more points in the same game. Fred Burley (35), Brooks Thompson (33) and Bryant Reeves (31) all scored 30 or more points against Oral Roberts on March 4, 1993.
Oklahoma State's 34 free-throws made are the sixth most in a single game in school history. It's the most in a game since Nov. 16, 1998, when the Cowboys made 37 free throws against Northwestern State in the 1998 season opener.
OSU's 54 rebounds are the most by a Cowboy squad since the 2001-02 season when the Pokes grabbed 54 boards in back-to-back games against Jackson State (Dec. 8, 2001) and Northwestern State (Dec. 17, 2001).
Oklahoma State shot 60 percent or better from the field in the first half for the second-consecutive game. The Cowboys shot 60.7 percent from the floor in the first half against UT-San Antonio and shot 63.6 percent from the floor before intermission against SWOSU.
It was also OSU's second game this season of shooting 60 percent or better from the floor. The Cowboys shot 67.9 percent from the field against Florida Atlantic in the season opener.
Oklahoma State shot 80 percent or better from the free-throw line for the fourth time this season.
