No. 16 Cowboy Tennis Wins 15th Straight Against Sooners

Oklahoma State's No. 16th-ranked men's tennis team defeated Bedlam rival Oklahoma, 4-3, for the 15th-straight time on Saturday at the ITA Central Region Indoor Championship Qualifier at the Michael D. Case Center in Tulsa.
The Central Region Qualifier is a playoff that feature the top six teams in the central region battling it out for the chance to represent the region at the ITA Team Indoor Championship later this month.
The Sooners advanced to face the Cowboys be defeating No. 61 Nebraska, 4-0, earlier in the day.
Cowboy newcomer Oleksandr Nedovyesov started his career off in stellar fashion as he upset Oklahoma's No. 74-ranked Mark Velicka in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Another newcomer, Dmytro Petrov, also got a win in his first match for O-State. The Ukraine native downed Sergey Avdeyev, 6-2, 6-4.
Sophomore Nathan Byrnes came through with a big win as he defeated Ondrej Kacmer, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles play, Daniel Byrnes and Nedovyesov teamed for the first time and were successful as they beat Velicka and Federico Chavarria, 8-5. The Sooner duo are currently ranked No. 5 in the region.
At No. 3 doubles, Puchkarov and Petrov downed McKenzie and Avdeyev in a close match, 9-7.
The win was the Cowboy's 14th-straight win over the Sooners in men's tennis. The Sooners have not won since 1995, making it the longest win streak in the series' history.
The Cowboys will face No. 27 Tulsa on Sunday at 4 p.m. for the right to represent the region at the ITA Team Indoor Championship. The Hurricanes advanced by defeating No. 30 Arkansas, 4-0.
