Head Coach Kurt Budke Quotes

Cowgirl Head Coach Kurt Budke
On Oklahoma
“(Oklahoma) is everything that has been advertised. They have a great team and a great coach. They are a team that has a chance to win the national championship. I think they have every piece of the puzzle, including the greatest player in America, (Courtney) Paris.
On the play of Oklahoma State
“I was very proud of our girls tonight. This year, we have not faced a team like this that is a legitimate top-five team. I thought there were some rough spots in the game. I don't think we ever quit and I am very proud of our team for that. I was also proud of our crowd, including our student section for coming out and supporting us tonight.”
On where the game got out of reach for Oklahoma State
“If you look at the first half, and as we go back and look at the missed free throws and shots inside, this could have been a four or five-point game at half time. We talked about that at halftime, but we have had a problem this year of starting second half's. I have never had this problem with a team before, so that is something we have to straighten out. I think we
really lost this game in the first four to five minutes of the second half. I give (Oklahoma) credit because it is a veteran squad that knows how to play and knows when it is time to put the kill shot in. They did a great job of that in the first few minutes of the second half as that was when they got away from us.”
On Oklahoma State freshman point guard Andrea Riley
“I love watching (Andrea) Riley play because she is exciting. I would not trade her for anybody. She is going to be a great player at Oklahoma State. She has to learn how to be a little more consistent and not force the ball into an area that it does not belong. The is no other player who watches more film than she does. She will be in the locker room tomorrow morning bugging one of the coaches to sit down with her to watch film and see where she can get better. She is going to be a great player for us.”
