Cowgirl Basketball To Host Kansas In Big 12 Home Opener
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (12-2 overall, 0-1 Big 12) will open the home portion of its Big 12 slate on Wednesday night when Kansas (5-9, 0-2) comes calling for a 6 p.m. contest inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowgirls saw their four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday night after losing at Texas Tech, while the Jayhawks have lost five consecutive outings.
Scouting The Jayhawks
Kansas enters the midweek contest looking for its first Big 12 win of the season after being dealt losses at Iowa State and at home against Baylor on Saturday. Overall, KU has lost five consecutive games and eight of its last nine with the lone victory being a 78-68 win on Dec. 17 against Santa Clara. Kelly Kohn is one of two players on the squad to start all 14 games and is scoring a team-best 11.0 points per game. Head coach Bonnie Henrickson is in her third year in charge of the Jayhawk program and owns a 34-38 record during her tenure.
Series History
The Cowgirls and Jayhawks have met 46 times previously with KU holding a 27-19 lead all time in the series. The two programs have met 19 times in Stillwater with OSU claiming nine victories on its home floor. The Cowgirls have won the last three meetings inside Gallagher-Iba Arena, including a 57-54 win on Feb. 9, 2005.
