Johnson Dismissed from Cowboy Basketball team

Torre Johnson, a junior on the Cowboy Basketball team last season, has been dismissed from the squad, it was announced today by head coach Sean Sutton.

“Torre and I had a discussion last Thursday evening,” Sutton said. “I feel that it is in the best interests of both he and our program that we part ways. We appreciate the contributions he made to the team last year and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Johnson averaged 10.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game last season. The 6-7 forward averaged just 5.8 points over the final 13 games of the season, including a 20-point contest against Iowa State in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. His shooting average of 55.8 percent dropped to just 47.5 percent over that span.
