Cowgirl Basketball Recruiting Class Gains National Recognition

Cowgirl head coach Kurt Budke and his staff added four junior college players and three prep standouts during the fall and spring signing periods. All seven student-athletes will join the program for the 2006-07 season.
“I think this class says a lot about my staff. My assistant coaches did a great job and to be ranked in the top 30 says a lot about the work they did,” Budke said.
Led by Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College product Dominique Chism, who was tabbed as the No. 2 power forward and the No. 16 player overall, all four of OSU's junior-college signees were ranked among the best in the country at their respective positions.
Maria Cordero of Central Arizona College also cracked the top 20 on ASGR's overall list, checking in at No. 20 and as the fourth-best power forward, while Colby (Kan.) Community College's Rita Kollo was ranked as the 23rd-best player overall and the No. 3 wing player.
Danielle Green, a teammate of Cordero at CAC, was ranked by the service as the seventh-best shooting guard and the No. 31 prospect overall.
Joining the quartet in the Cowgirls' incoming class are point guard Ally Clardy, a product of Argyle (Texas) High School, point guard Andrea Riley of Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas and shooting guard Christina Fox, who hails from the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
“We are excited about our class. How it translates into wins and losses remains to be seen, but I do know that nobody outworked my staff on the recruiting trail,” Budke said.
