Cowgirl Golf Signs two from Down Under

"I am delighted that Kristie and Sarah have decided to join the Oklahoma State women's golf team,” said head coach Laura Matthews. “They are going to be great assets to the team and the Oklahoma State golf family. Their playing accomplishments rank them as two of the best juniors in Australia and New Zealand. We feel quite fortunate that they have chosen to spend their collegiate years at Oklahoma State."
Bradley, who graduated from St. Peter's School in Cambridge, currently attends the New Zealand Golf Titleist Academy. She finished fourth last month at the New Zealand Under-21 Championships as her 76-70—146 was five strokes behind the individual champion.
Bradley's performance coach is Marnie McGuire, who was a first-team All-American at Oklahoma State in 1990. A member of the Junior Tasman Cup team, Bradley will represent New Zealand at the Malaysian Ladies Amateur next week.
Smith, the No. 1 golfer for the Australian Junior Tasman Cup team, won the Australian Schoolgirls Stroke Play Championship, the Western Australia State Junior Championship and the Aaron Baddeley World Junior Championship in 2005. She was also the youngest winner ever of the Western Australia State Amateur Championship.
In March, Smith finished fifth and had the top amateur finish at the Malaysian Ladies Open, carding a one-over-par 217, just three strokes behind the individual champion.
By being ranked in the top two following the Australian Strokeplay Championship, Smith won entry into both the 2006 British Stroke Play Championship (August 23-25) and the European Stroke Play Championship (Aug. 30-Sept. 2).
