Men's Tennis Prepares for Sweet Sixteen

The Cowboys advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament by defeating North Carolina, 4-0, in the first round and No. 11 ranked Minnesota, 4-2, in the second round in front of a crowd of 700 Golden Gopher fans.
Beginning the season unranked and unnoticed the Cowboys finished the season winning 12 of their last 13 matches including a trip to the Big 12 Tournament finals.
Along the way three individuals on the OSU squad were rewarded by the Big 12 for their excellent play throughout the season. Senior Jiri Jezek, sophomore Mark Van Elden and junior Yevgen Bondarchuk were selected to the All-Big 12 Singles team. Jezek and Van Elden were also named to the All-Big 12 Doubles team after posting a 15-4 record this season.
By leading his team to a third place finish in the Big 12 Conference and a trip to the Big 12 Tournament finals Head Coach James Wadley was selected as the Central Regional ?Wilson ITA Coach-of-the-Year?. Coach Wadley has amassed a record of 536-250 in his 31 years as the Cowboys head coach.
The winner between OSU and UCLA will advance to the Great Eight on Sunday at 12 p.m. where they will face the winner of the Texas-Florida match.
