Cowgirls Top No. 72 Kansas After Long Weather Delay

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team defeated No. 72 Kansas, 4-3, on Sunday in a seven hour match that included two delays because of severe weather.
The Cowgirls got off to a slow start in doubles play, losing two of three matches. The lone win for the Cowgirls in doubles play came when Zana Masnic and Yawna Allen defeated Lauren Hommell and Edina Horvath 8-7.
The Cowgirls rallied to win four of the six individual matches to give Oklahoma State the victory over Kansas.
Iryna Tkachenko picked up a victory for the Cowgirls at the No. 1 singles spot. The sophomore beat Ksenia Bukina 6-2, 6-2. Lauren Simmons also won her match against Christine Skoda in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
The Cowgirls also got a pair of victories from their newcomers. Sophomore Yawna Allen defeated Hommell 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 4 slot. Oklahoma State also got another victory from Marta Tsivka. The junior beat Horvath 6-3, 6-3.
Oklahoma State will next be in action on March 22 when the Cowgirls take on instate rival Tulsa in Stillwater, Okla., at 1 p.m.
