Cowgirl Golfers to compete in Lady Puerto Rico Classic

Oklahoma State's Cowgirl golf team will travel to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, this weekend to compete in the 2006 Lady Puerto Rico Classic, hosted by Purdue University. The tournament will take place on the par-72, 6,000-yard Cocoa Beach Golf Course.

The 23rd-ranked Cowgirls will compete against 15 other teams, including Iowa State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M of the Big 12 Conference. Other teams in the field include: Arkansas, East Tennessee State, Florida, Indiana, Kent State, Minnesota, North Carolina, Purdue, South Carolina, TCU, Tulsa and Wisconsin.

Purdue is the highest-ranked team competing in the tournament at No. 3. Arkansas is ranked ninth, while Texas A&M is 18th. Kent State (No. 21), Florida (22nd) and the Cowgirls are all ranked in the top 25 nationally.

The tournament will consist of three rounds played each day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 8 a.m. EST.
