Last Time Out
Oklahoma State picked up a stunning upset win over Texas on Sunday afternoon, defeating the sixth-ranked Texas Longhorns 81-60. The Cowboys were dominant from the beginning, taking a 9-8 lead five minutes in and never trailing again. OSU went on a 13-5 run over the final five minutes of the first period and took a 31-20 lead into the lockerroom, limiting the Horns to just 29.2 percent shooting in the first period. The game went back and forth over the first seven minutes of the second half when UT cut the lead to seven at 40-33. However, the Pokes went on a 15-4 run and the lead never dipped below 14 points again. JamesOn Curry scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while the post duo of Mario Boggan and David Monds each scored 17 points. OSU also outrebounded the taller Longhorns 37-34. The Cowboys also committed just 10 turnovers, the fewest since the Detroit game on Nov. 22. Here are a few notes regarding Sundays victory:
The 21-point victory over No. 6 Texas is the biggest win over a top-10 opponent since Feb. 2, 1992, when the No. 3 Cowboys defeated eighth-ranked Missouri by 23, 84-61.
It was Oklahoma States 10th win over a top-10 opponent in the last five seasons, dating back to a 79-72 overtime victory over No. 4 Oklahoma on Feb. 13, 2002.
Sundays win was the first by an unranked OSU team over a top-10 foe since Jan. 14, 2004, when the Cowboys upset No. 6 Oklahoma 77-56.
The win is OSUs largest as an unranked team over a top-10 opponent since the polls were instituted during the 1948-49 season.
It marked the 11th win by an unranked OSU team over a ranked opponent in the Eddie Sutton era.
