Cowboys Face Aggies
Oklahoma State travels to College Station, Texas, this weekend for the second matchup between OSU and Texas A&M on Saturday, Feb. 11. Tipoff is set for 2:35 p.m. OSU is 13-10 overall this season and 3-6 in Big 12 Conference action following a 73-65 loss to Oklahoma in Stillwater on Wednesday night. The Aggies are 14-7 overall and 4-6 in league play following a 61-58 win over Colorado Wednesday night in Reed Arena. The Cowboys won the first meeting earlier this season 79-77 in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
On Television
Saturdays game will be broadcast live on ABC Sports. Mark Jones will handle the play-by-play duties while Fran Fraschilla will provide expert analysis. It is the first of three ABC games over the next five contests. The game will be one of three regional games on ABC at that time. The other games are Charlotte-Wake Forest and UCLA-Washington. The game will also be televised nationally as part of the ESPN FullCourt package.
Sutton Moves into Sixth Place
Saturdays game at Texas A&M will be Coach Eddie Suttons 1,104th career game coached. That will move him into sole possession of sixth place on the all-time most games coached list. He is currently tied with Mr. Henry Iba for the sixth-most games coached in Division I history. Sutton began his career in 1969 at Creighton with an 84-64 win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Suttons Autographed Sneakers to Benefit Coaches vs. Cancer
This weekend is National Coaches vs Cancer Awareness Weekend and coaches around the country will be wearing sneakers in honor of CvC. Coach Sutton will be wearing his sneakers against Texas A&M this Saturday. OSU has been selected as one of a handful of schools to participate in a pilot this year for an on-line auction of the sneakers. Coach Suttons pair of autographed Nike Air Max Moto sneakers are a special item and a great addition to any Cowboy hoops fans collection. About the Aggies
Texas A&M is 14-7 overall and 4-6 in league play this season. The Aggies are led by the duo of guard Acie Law and post Joseph Jones. They are averaging 16.8 and 16.5 points per game, respectively. Jones also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.9 boards per contest, and Law leads the team with 69 assists. Three of A&Ms four conference wins this season have come at Reed Arena. The Aggies have a +6.0 turnover margin, and are averaging nearly nine points better than their opponents.
Series History with A&M
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Texas A&M by a 26-8 margin. In fact, the Cowboys have won 12 straight over the Aggies, and 20 of the last 21. OSU leads the series in College Station as well by a 11-5 mark. The last win for Texas A&M was on Jan. 22, 2000, when the Aggies won 64-59 in G. Rollie White Coliseum. Texas A&M won the first five meetings between these two schools between 1917 and 1924. However, Oklahoma A&M won the next six before falling 67-64 in a game played in Tulsa. A&M won nine years later with an 80-72 win in El Paso.
Coach Sutton vs. the Aggies
Coach Eddie Sutton is 38-6 (86.4 percent) all-time against Texas A&M in his 36-year coaching career. He has more wins against Texas A&M than any other opponent hes ever played against. Baylor is second at 36, while Texas Tech is third at 35. His record against the Aggies includes a 1-0 mark while at Creighton, a 19-5 record at Arkansas and his current 18-1 mark at Oklahoma State. His first win over A&M came during the 1971-72 season when his Creighton Blue Jays defeated the Aggies 100-77 in the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. He finished with a 20-5 record against Shelby Metcalf. His first win as coach of the Cowboys came on Dec. 3, 1994, with an 86-56 win in the Bank IV Classic in Tulsa. Coach Sutton is 15-5 all-time in College Station, including a 7-5 mark at Arkansas and an 8-1 record at OSU. Of the 20 games Coach Sutton has been involved in at College Station, 17 have been decided by fewer than eight points and 14 have been decided by five or fewer points.
Exceeding Expectations
Coach Sutton has coached 1,103 NCAA games, tying Mr. Henry Iba for sixth place on the all-time games coached list. Coach Sutton has been able to pull off quite a career, very similar to Mr. Ibas. While times have changed it took Mr. Iba 41 seasons to coach 1,103 games compared to just 36 seasons for Coach Sutton many things remain the same. Coach Sutton has a better overall record through 1,103 games with more total wins. He has also made three Final Four appearances compared to Coach Ibas four national semifinal games.

Oklahoma State returns home for a Big Monday game on Feb. 13 against Kansas (16-6 overall, 7-2 Big 12) in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPN. The Cowboys will then have five days off before hosting the Texas Longhorns (20-3, 8-1) on Sunday, Feb. 19. That game, televised by ABC Sports, will air at 12:30 p.m.
