Cowboys face Syracuse in Jimmy V Classic
Oklahoma State heads to New York City to face Syracuse in the Jimmy V Classic Tuesday night, Dec. 5, inside Madison Square Garden.
It will mark OSUs second appearance in the Jimmy V as the Cowboys defeated Syracuse in the same event in 2004.
Oklahoma State is sporting a perfect 9-0 record following a 90-74 win over Pepperdine Saturday afternoon.
Syracuse is 7-1 and coming off a 64-61 loss to Wichita State on Saturday night at home.
The game will be televised by ESPN, OSUs first true nationally televised game of the season. Dan Shulman will handle the play-by-play duties while Dick Vitale will provide expert analysis and Doris Burke will serve as sideline reporter.
Game Rewind Highlights
Mario Boggan and JamesOn Curry each scored 24 points and despite a 55-point sescond-half performance by Pepperdine, the Cowboys defeated the Waves 90-74.
Boggan recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 rebounds.
Three other Cowboys scored in double figures. Obi Muonelo scored 16 while Terrel Harris scored 12 and David Monds added 11. Muonelo also had seven assists and just one turnover, and Monds had eight rebounds.
Oklahoma State shot 54 percent from the floor and reached 90 points for the second-consecutive game.
The Cowboys scored 60 points in the paint including 20 on the fast break.
OSU had 41 rebounds, a season high, and also had a season-high rebounding margin of 13.
20-Point Productions
With Mario Boggan and JamesOn Curry each scoring 24 points against Pepperdine on Saturday, it gives the Cowboys their ninth and 10th 20-point performances of the season.
Oklahoma State didnt have a 20-point performer last season until the ninth game, when Curry scored 30 points against Mercer.
Boggan has six 20-point games this season, while Curry recorded his third. Terrel Harris had his first of the season with 20 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Balanced Attack
Oklahoma State has had 39 double-figure performances in nine games this season, an average of over four per game.
Mario Boggan, JamesOn Curry and Obi Muonelo have each reached double figures in all nine games.
OSU has had five double-figure scorers in five different games this season: Florida Atlantic, Sam Houston State, Missouri State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Pepperdine.
Cowboys Undefeated
Oklahoma State is one of just 21 teams that are still undefeated as of Saturdays games.
Clemson and Butler are the only other teams that are 9-0 this season as of Saturday.
Oklahoma State is one of just five schools nationally that has both their mens and womens basketball programs sporting undefeated records.
The Cowgirls are currently 7-0 and combined with the Cowboys 9-0 mark, have a 16-0 combined record.
Only Maryland has a better combined record. The Terrapins are a combined 17-0 as of Saturday.
Series with Syracuse
Oklahoma State and Syracuse have only played four times on the hardwood. The series is tied at two victories each.
The Cowboys won the last meeting, a 74-60 win over the Orange in the 2004 Jimmy V Classic.
OSU is 2-1 against Syracuse on a neutral court.
