Cowboys Host Waves
• Oklahoma State hosts the Pepperdine Waves on Saturday at 3 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
• OSU is 8-0 for the second time in three years to start the season. The Cowboys started the 2004-05 season 9-0.
• Pepperdine is 1-5 this season after a 68-66 loss at UC Irvine on Nov. 25.
• The game will be produced by Cox Communications and the Cowboy Sports Network. John Holcomb of Tulsa’s KOTV-Channel 6 will handle the play-by-play duties while former Cowboy Bryndon Manzer will provide expert analysis.
• The game can be seen on KOCB in both Oklahoma City and Stillwater and on KMYT in Tulsa. It will also be aired on Fox Sports Southwest in parts of Oklahoma and some areas of Texas.
Game Rewind Highlights
• JamesOn Curry scored a career-high 35 points and dished out nine assists without a turnover as Oklahoma State defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 95-73.
• Four other Cowboys scored in double figures. Terrel Harris had 20 points, one shy of his career high, While Byron Eaton scored a season-best 13 and had seven assists. Obi Muonelo scored 12 while Mario Boggan had 10.
• The OSU defense forced 21 turnovers by the Islanders and scored 28 points off those miscues.
• Oklahoma State never trailed in the game, scoring the first basket at the 19:47 mark and leading by as many as 27 points during the contest.
• OSU played the final 6-1/2 minutes with five players as Boggan, David Monds and Kenny Cooper fouled out.
More on Curry’s Performance
• Curry’s 35 points against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Wednesday night marked a career high.
• It is the 80th time a Cowboy has scored 30 points but just the 18th time a Poke has reached 35 points in a single game.
• It ties for 11th place on the all-time single-game scoring list.
• It marked just the eighth time in school history that a junior has scored at least 35 points.
• Curry also had nine assists, one shy of a double-double.
• Head coach Sean Sutton is the only player in school history to record 20 points and 10 assists in a single game.
• It was the most points by a Cowboy since Feb. 21, 2004, when Joey Graham scored 36 against Nebraska.
• Curry is just the 17th Cowboy to record multiple 30-point games in his career. He had 30 against Mercer last season.
20-Point Productions
• Curry’s 35 points against the Islanders marked the eighth 20-point performance in eight games by a Cowboy this season. Terrel Harris had 20 points vs. the Islanders.
• Oklahoma State didn’t have a 20-point performer last season until the ninth game, when Curry scored 30 points against Mercer.
• Mario Boggan has five 20-point games this season, while Curry recorded his second. It was Harris’ first of the season.
About Pepperdine
• The Waves are 1-5 with their only win coming over Nicholls State in the Basketball Travelers Classic in Seattle, Wash.
• Pepperdine has lost four games by a total of 22 points. The only blowout was a 58-83 loss vs. Northern Iowa.
• The Waves lost by nine in double overtime to UC-Santa Barbara, eight at Washington, three at Cal State-Northridge and two at UC Irvine in their most recent game.
• Pepperdine has four players averaging double figures, led by senior guard Marvin Lea who is scoring 17 points per game.
• As a team, the Waves are shooting just 42 percent, an nearly 47 percent of their shots are from beyond the arc.
• Pepperdine has a +6.5 turnover margin, but a -14.6 rebounding margin.
Curry Moving up the Charts
• Cowboy junior JamesOn Curry is listed on several of the Cowboy career charts despite having played just over two seasons in an OSU uniform.
• Curry became the 16th player in school history to record 250 or more assists with his three vs. Southern.
• Curry dished out nine assists vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and currently has 271 assists, moving past Eddie Hannon and into the top 15.
• JamesOn connected on four treys vs. TAMUCC, surpassing Melvin Sanders into ninth place.
• He needs just two makes from long range to move past Desmond Mason and Glendon Alexander and into seventh place in school history. Seven more will move him past Victor Williams and into sixth place.
• JamesOn has 321 attempts from beyond the three-point arc in his career, ranking 10th in school history in that category.
• Curry is averaging 1.74 treys per game in his career, ranking him seventh in that category.
• He is shooting 40.2 percent from long range, ranking him ninth in school history.
• JamesOn is the team leader in scoring with 894 career points.
Terrel from Long Range
• Terrel Harris scored a season-high 20 points vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, just one shy of his career best.
• He has been on fire from beyond the three-point arc, connecting on 17-of-28 attempts from long range, good for a 60.7 shooting percentage.
• That percentage leads the Big 12 Conference.
• Terrel has made at least three treys in five games this season.
• He was 7-of-10 in back-to-back games against Texas Southern and Sam Houston State.
• Over the past two games, he has made 6-of-9.
• Terrel is also shooting well at the free-throw line, connecting on 22-of-27 shots, good for 81.5 percent.
Muonelo Fabulous Frosh
• With 12 points against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Wednesday night, freshman guard Obi Muonelo became the first frosh in school history to record double-figure point totals in each of his first eight games.
• He had been tied with Ronnie Daniel, who reached double figures in each of his first seven games as a Cowboy freshman during the 1973-74 season.
• In his collegiate debut against Florida Atlantic, Muonelo scored 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
• He is just the fifth player in the last 30 seasons to have scored at least 15 points in his collegiate debut.
Sutton the First
• While he is actually the second Sutton to lead the Cowboy Basketball program, Sean Sutton is the first head coach in school history to win his first eight games as head coach.
• Three mentors of the OSU program won their first four games, but Sean is the first to win the fifth.
• Eddie Sutton won his first four games before losing his fifth upon his return to Oklahoma State in 1991.
• Jim Killingsworth won his first four games as head coach of the Cowboys before losing his fifth in 1977.
• John Griffith won four before losing his fifth as head coach in 1915.
Still Undefeated
• Oklahoma State is one of just six teams to be 8-0 at this point in the season.
• Other teams that are currently 8-0 nationally (as of Thursday’s games) are: Clemson, Maryland, Butler, Missouri and San Diego State.
• A total of 24 teams are still undefeated and 15 of those are sporting a record of 6-0 or better.
Cowboys, Cowgirls Undefeated
• Oklahoma State is one of just seven schools nationally that has both their men’s and women’s basketball programs sporting undefeated records.
• The Cowgirls are currently 6-0 and combined with the Cowboys’ 8-0 mark, have a 14-0 record.
• Only Maryland has a better combined record. The Terrapins’ are a combined 16-0 so far this season.
• Texas A&M (men 6-0, women 6-0) is the only other Big 12 squad listed.
