Cowboys face No. 7 Pittsburgh
Coming off their first loss of the season, the Cowboys will face Pittsburgh Thursday night in the All-College Classic.
OSU is 11-1 after a 79-77 setback by Tennessee in Nashville on Monday night.
The Panthers are 10-1 and coming off their first loss of the season as well, an 89-75 loss at then No. 7-ranked Wisconsin.
This will be the seventh meeting between these two schools on the hardwood with each team victorious in three of the previous six contests.
The game will be televised nationally by espn2 with Ron Franklin handling the play-by-play duties and Fran Fraschilla providing color commentary.
Game Rewind Highlights
Oklahoma State had four different players reach double figures, including a game-high 20 points by Mario Boggan, but the Cowboys could not overcome 23 turnovers in a 79-77 loss at Tennessee Monday night.
The Vols Dane Bradshaw tipped in a missed shot by Ramar Smith with 1.9 seconds remaining.
Inbounding the ball from underneath the UT basket, the Cowboys had an opportunity as Boggan just missed a three-point attempt from just outside the arc at the buzzer.
OSU shot 54.5 percent while limiting the Vols to just under 42 percent shooting, including just 4-of-23 (17.4 percent) from beyond the three-point line.
Tennessee scored 31 points off OSU turnovers and also had 26 second-chance points on 21 offensive rebounds.
Cowboy Kenny Cooper had his best game of the season with 11 points and five rebounds in 18 minutes of play.
Streak Ended
Oklahoma State started the season perfect through the first 11 games before falling to Tennessee Monday night.
It marked just the fifth time in school history and the first time in five years that OSU had won its first 11 games of a season.
It marked the fourth time since Sean Sutton came to OSU in 1990 that the Cowboys had won their first 11 games.
OSU was 20-0 to start the 1991-92 season. The Aggies of 1950-51 went 16-0 to start the year. The Cowboys were 13-0 to start the 2001-02 season and 11-0 to begin the 1997-98 year.
Cowboys Among Nations Best
With Oklahoma States loss on Monday night, there are only five unbeaten teams remaining.
The Cowboys are one of 23 one-loss teams in the country.
OSU is one of six 11-win teams nationally. Others are Clemson (11-0), Michigan (11-1), Wisconsin (11-1), Butler (11-1) and Air Force (11-1).
Oklahoma States 91.7 winning percentage is the sixth-best mark in the country.
20-Point Productions
Mario Boggan scored 20 points against Tennessee, giving OSU its 14th 20-point performance of the season.
OSU didnt have a 20-point performer last season until the ninth game, when Curry scored 30 points against Mercer.
Last year, the Cowboys didnt have their second 20-point scorer until the 13th game.
Boggan has nine 20-point games this season, while JamesOn Curry has four. Terrel Harris had his first of the season with 20 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Balanced Attack
Oklahoma State has had 50 double-figure performances in 12 games this season, an average of more than four per game.
Mario Boggan and JamesOn Curry have both reached double figures in all 12 games.
Freshman Obi Muonelo missed his first game of reaching double figures against Ball State. He sits at 10.
OSU has had five double-figure scorers in five different games this season: Florida Atlantic, Sam Houston State, Missouri State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Pepperdine.
Oklahoma State has had at least three double-figure scorers in all 12 games this season.
All-Time Series with the Panthers
The all-time series between Oklahoma State and Pittsburgh on the basketball court is tied at 3-3.
Thursdays game in the Ford Center will mark the fifth-consecutive neutral site game in the series.
OSU won the first meeting in Stillwater on Feb. 8, 1950, defeating the Panthers 43-34.
Pitt rattled off three-straight wins within 13 months, including twice in the same season in 1988-89.
The 11th-ranked Cowboys defeated the No. 24 Panthers 74-63 in the semifinals of the 1991 preseason NIT en route to a tournament championship.
Oklahoma State won the most recent meeting in the Sweet 16 of the 2004 NCAA Tournament, a 63-51 win which preceded one of the biggest games in school history.
The 12-point win was the largest margin of victory for the Cowboys in the series.
OSU defeated Saint Josephs the next round and advanced to the Final Four.
In the game with Pitt, Tony Allen was the only Cowboy in double figures with 23 points.
The Cowboy defense was outstanding, limiting the Panthers to just 36 percent shooting, including just 3-of-17 from beyond the three-point arc.
No current Cowboy played in the last meeting against Pittsburgh.
Senior guard Antonio Graves is the only Panther that played in that game. He played just four minutes.
