Cowboy freshman out with lower leg injury

Oklahoma State freshman guard Obi Muonelo is out indefinitely following surgery to repair a fractured fibula in his left leg, it was announced today by head coach Sean Sutton.

Muonelo was injured during the closing moments of Saturday evening's practice. Following the injury, he was evaluated and diagnosed by Oklahoma State's sports medicine department. He underwent surgery Sunday morning at Stillwater Medical Center.

Muonelo was a key contributor off the Cowboy bench, playing in all 11 games this season. He was averaging 11.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest, third on the team in both categories.

Muonelo is at home recovering as the 15th-ranked Cowboys face a tough non-conference stretch this week. OSU plays Tennessee tonight in Nashville and takes on second-ranked Pittsburgh on Thursday night in the All-College Classic in Oklahoma City. Both games will be televised by espn2.
