June 4, 2006… the first day of offseason this summer... the first day of a new beginning… offseason and preseason workouts were really hard, but it made everyone better. I really had fun this summer.
I got to work the Cowgirl Camps this summer for the first time and I enjoyed it a lot. I got to meet a lot of new people and even got to know my new teammates better!! This summer I also worked on my body and my attitude and they both improved. I have to give credit to our new strength coach, Marcellus Campbell, for getting me into great shape!!
Summer conditioning is not all fun and games though. During one workout, I was lifting weights and doing hang cleans. I had 125 pounds raised above my head, lost my balance and fell. That 125-pound bar didn't feel real good on my shins and I had to get stitches. Random story, but I just wanted to share that with you.
Preseason officially started on the first day of school. We had team competitions throughout the preseason and it was a good building experience for us. I enjoyed it because I believe it made us closer as a team. Our chemistry on and off the court this year is awesome. I am having so much fun this year.
This year we got to play in the Basketball Bash and it was a great experience. We were excited and nervous at the same time to play in front of so many fans, but I really had fun. It feels really good playing in front of all the fans! My family and friends were there and it was an awesome experience. Practices have been going great so far. There is a lot of intensity in the gym and everyone is working hard.
I cannot wait until our first game on Saturday! It came so fast and I am ready to play!! Big 12 here we come! Take care Cowgirl fans and hope to see you at Gallagher-Iba Arena!
