Cowboys Continue Homestand
Oklahoma State remains home for its fourth of five-consecutive home games to open the season as the Cowboys host Sam Houston State on Sunday afternoon.
OSU is 3-0 this season after an 86-65 win over Texas Southern on Friday night.
The Bearkats are 1-1 this season with a loss at Texas Tech and a win over Texas A&M-International.
The game will be televised by the Cowboy Sports Network with John Holcomb handling the play-by-play and Bryndon Manzer providing expert analysis.
Game Rewind Highlights
Oklahoma State forced 27 turnovers and scored 31 points off those miscues as the Cowboys defeated Texas Southern 86-65 Friday night.
OSU was credited with 17 steals, including six by freshman Obi Muonelo.
It was the most steals by a Cowboy squad since 2002.
Mario Boggan matched a career high with 27 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor and 9-of-9 from the line.
Muonelo had another complete game, scoring 14 points and leading the team with eight rebounds and his six steals.
Oklahoma State scored 41 and 45 points, respectively, in the two halves. The Cowboys have now scored at least 40 points in five of its first six halves of play.
About Sam Houston State
Sam Houston State is 1-1 this season having lost to Texas Tech 79-64 in Lubbock and having defeated Texas A&M-International 94-45 in Huntsville.
The Bearkats are led by a pair of players, Ryan Bright and Jejuan Plair, who are both are scoring in double figures.
Bright, a junior forward, is averaging 13.5 points and eight rebounds per game.
Plair, a senior guard, is averaging 13 points and 6.5 assists per contest.
SHSU finished 22-9 overall last season and 11-5 in Southland Conference play.
The Bearkats are predicted to win the West Division of the league according to the coaches poll.
Series History with the Bearkats
Oklahoma State won the only previous meetings between these two teams, a 73-57 victory on Nov. 27, 2004.
Marcus Dove, David Monds and JamesOn Curry all played in that game off the bench.
Shamir McDaniel, Ryan Bright and Aaron Wade all played for the Bearkats in that game. In fact, Wade scored 11 points in 13 minutes before fouling out.
The Cowboys forced 18 turnovers while committing just nine of their own.
OSU also was 17-of-20 at the charity stripe, compared to just 3-of-11 by Sam Houston State.
Joey Graham was the leading scorer for OSU with 25 points, including 11-of-14 at the line.
Quick Turnaround
OSU is in the midst of playing four games in seven days. That seems like a lot of games to start the season.
However, as recent as the 2001-02 season, the Cowboys played five games in six days.
Oklahoma State hosted Cincinnati in the season opener on Nov. 16, and then hosted Austin Peay the following day before traveling to Las Vegas, Nev., to compete in the Las Vegas Tournament.
On Nov. 19, OSU faced Providence, followed by Siena College on Nov. 20.
The Cowboys won the Las Vegas Tournament title by defeating TCU on Nov. 21. Oklahoma State won all five games.
Cowboys Lead the League in Steals
Oklahoma State has 40 steals in three games this season, an average of 13.3 per game.
That average leads the Big 12 Conference.
Five different Cowboys are ranked in the leagues top 15 for steals.
Freshman guard Obi Muonelo is third individually, averaging 3.0 steals per game.
Sophomore guard Byron Eaton is fourth, averaging 2.7 thefts per contest.
Junior guard JamesOn Curry is 11th, averaging 2.3 steals per game.
Junior Marcus Dove and sophomore Terrel Harris are both tied for 13th with two steals per game.
