Cowboys Continue Homestand
Oklahoma State remains home for its third of five-consecutive home games to open the season as the Cowboys hostTexas Southern on Friday night.
OSU is 2-0 this season after narrowly escaping with a 79-76 win over Northwestern State on Wednesday night.
Texas Southern is 0-1 this season and coming off a 72-64 loss at Lamar last Saturday night.
The game will not be televised, but can be heard on the Cowboy Radio Network with Dave Hunziker as the play-by-play man and Tom Dirato providing color commentary.
Oklahoma State is 1-0 all-time against Texas Southern, having defeated the Tigers 79-77 on Dec. 19, 1989, in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Game Rewind Highlights
Oklahoma State withstood a flurry of points by Northwestern State in the second half and avenged the only nono-conference loss at home last season with a 79-76 victory over the Demons.
It took everything the Cowboys had as they watched their 19-point lead late in the first half dwindle to a one-point deficit with 12-1/2 minutes remaining in the game.
The game was tied with four minutes left in the contest until a layup by Mario Boggan put the Cowboys ahead for good.
Boggan and guard JamesOn Curry led all scorers with 22 points each.
Boggan was 7-of-9 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Curry also dished out nine assists, one shy of his career high.
Marcus Dove tied a career high with four blocked shots.
Freshman Obi Muonelo once again reached double figures with 12 points.
OSU shot just 44 percent from the floor but was 29-of-39 from the charity stripe, good for 74.4 percent.
Oklahoma State forced 26 turnovers that led to 22 Cowboy points.
Muonelos Debut Memorable
Freshman Obi Muonelo scored 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, in his collegiate debut against Florida Atlantic.
He was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field in the first half, including 4-of-4 from long range.
He also had four assists and three rebounds in the season opener.
Muonelo joined an elite group with his 16 points. In the past 30 season openers, only four other players have scored 15 or more points in the season opener of their freshman season.
Bryant Reeves scored 16 points in his first-ever game as a Cowboy vs. Evansville on Nov. 21, 1991. He was 6-of-12 from the floor with five rebounds and three blocked shots.
Corey Williams scored 17 points in his collegiate debut against Pittsburgh on Nov. 26, 1988. He was 7-of-14 from the floor, including 2-of-5 from long range.
Alan Bannister scored 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor against Angelo State on Nov. 23, 1985.
Lorenza Andrews scored 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting in his collegiate debut against Texas Wesleyan on Nov. 30, 1979.
Muonelo scored 12 points in his second game vs. NSU. Only Bannister of the above list reached double figures in his second contest as well.

Texas Southern is 0-1 this season after a 72-64 loss at Lamar last Saturday night.
The Tigers were led by Nick Walker who had 16 points off the bench. He also had five rebounds and five assists.
Chris Moore scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Texas Southern.
The Tigers shot just 36.5 percent from the floor, but held Lamar to just 36.2 percent shooting.
The difference came at the free-throw line where Lamar was 23-of-37 and TSU was just 13-of-26.
Series History with the Tigers
Oklahoma State won the only previous meetings between these two teams, a 79-77 squeaker on Dec. 19, 1989.
The Cowboys were led by Byron Houston who scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the win. He was 11-of-14 from the floor.
Corey Williams scored 20 points in the game and also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists.
Texas Southern was a two-man show as Charles Price scored 34 points for TSU and Fred West added 24 points off the bench.
The Tigers led the Cowboys 40-32 at halftime, going 15-of-30 from the floor while limiting the Pokes to just 37.1 percent shooting.
In the second period, it all came down to free throws as the Cowboys were 15-of-21 from the charity stripe while TSU was a mere 5-of-8.
