Martavius Adams Inks Letter with OSU
November 12, 2006 | Cowboy Basketball
“Martavius has one of the best basketball bodies that I've ever seen,” said assistant coach Jimmy Williams, who recruited Adams. “I've had some junior college players that were built like he is, but to come out of high school  he's about 250 pounds and has long arms and broad shoulders. He's built like an Adonis.”
“He's got great hands like Mario (Boggan) and he's also got great balance,” Williams continued. “He's got the ability to make plays. He's a good shooter. I expect him to be an outstanding player at both the forward and center positions. He's got outstanding strength, and he's only going to get stronger and better. He also carries his weight well. He runs easily and is very fluid for a guy who is as big as he is. He has very good court speed.”
As a junior last season at Baldwin County High School, Adams averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots per game. He will play his senior season at Wilkinson County High School.
“He can shoot, runs the floor well and can play in the low post,” said Wilkinson County coach Aaron Geter. “I feel he has the total package with a lot of upside. He plays in the low post but is one of those guys who can step out and shoot it. Oklahoma State is getting a very good kid with a lot of potential.”
Ranked as high as No. 54 nationally by Bob Gibbons, a basketball recruiting expert, Adams originally committed to Georgia. However, he reopened his recruiting in the spring, and eventually choose Oklahoma State over Cincinnati and LSU.
“He is a strong, athletic, rugged power player,” said Gibbons. “He is exactly what Sean Sutton needs in his program. It was a very important commitment for the Cowboys and I think he will be an impact player for them next year.”
Adams joins James Anderson, an off-guard from Junction City, Ark., and Nick Sidorakis, a shooting guard from Jenks, Okla., in OSU's 2007 recruiting class.
