Puchkarov's Run Ends in Round of 16

Oklahoma State junior and 61st ranked Ivan Puchkarov lost in the round of 16 on Friday to end his run at the 2006 Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Puchkarov's tournament ended when he faced Tulsa's 7th-ranked Arnau Brugues. Brugues defeated the junior, 7-5, 6-0, in the round of 16. Even though Puchkarov lost, he did manage to win five games in the first set which is more games then Brugues had given up in his first two matches combined.
The 61st-ranked Puchkarov won three matches during the qualifying draw to advance to the main bracket. On Thursday, Puchkarov defeated 32nd-ranked Andreas Siljestrom of Middle Tennessee State and Oklahoma's 46th-ranked Marek Velicka to advance to today's round of 16 at the prestigious tournament.
The loss on Friday was only the fourth time Puchkarov has been defeated since coming to Stillwater last year.
The Cowboys will next take the courts when they return to Tulsa to compete at the Wilson Central Regional Oct. 26-28.
