Hatch, who has been coaching at the high school and junior college levels for more than 20 years, began his career as an assistant coach at Justin Northwest High School in Justin, Texas. After two years as an assistant, he was promoted to head coach, and held that position for 12 seasons.
Hatch spent one year as an assistant for Tim Jankovich at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas before returning to the state of Texas as the head coach at McKinney High School. After two years at McKinney, he accepted the head coach position at Paschal, where he has been since August of 2000.
A two-year letterman at Texas-Pan American for head coach Lon Kruger, Hatch graduated from UTPA in 1983. A native of San Antonio, Texas, he graduated from John Marshall High School and spent his first two seasons at Ranger Junior College.
Hatch has coached numerous players that have gone on to Division I schools, including Deron Williams, the third-overall draft pick of the Utah Jazz in 2005. He also coached Warren Carter (Illinois), Nick Williams (Cincinnati), Eric Hansen (Iowa), Matt Sayman (Baylor) and Marcus Shropshire (TCU). Hatch spent five seasons as head coach of the Fort Worth Lions, members of the Amateur Athletic Union.
Born June 19, 1961, Hatch is married to the former Kay Nix. The couple has two children, Tyler (21) and Haley (19). Tyler is a walk-on to the Cowboy Basketball program, while Haley is a member of the Tyler Junior College volleyball team.
