Cowboys Face Red Raiders
Oklahoma State travels to Lubbock, Texas, this weekend for a matchup with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Tipoff is set for 12:47 p.m., and the game will be televised by ESPN Regional. OSU is 12-7 overall and 2-3 in Big 12 Conference action after suffering an 80-46 loss at the hands of the Texas Longhorns on Monday night in Austin. Texas Tech is 10-9 overall, 2-3 in league play and coming off a 60-48 loss at Oklahoma on Saturday.
On Television
Saturday's game will be broadcast live as part of the Big 12 Conference's television package with ESPN Regional. Dave Armstrong will handle the play-by-play duties while Reid Gettys will provide expert analysis. It is the third of six ESPN Regional games for the Cowboys this season. The game will be aired on KOCB TV-34 in Oklahoma City and Stillwater. In Tulsa, the game will be on NBC affiliate KJRH Channel 2. The game will also be televised nationally as part of the ESPN FullCourt package.
Sutton, Knight Meet for 16th time
Saturday's game will mark the 16th meeting between Coaches Eddie Sutton and Bob Knight on the hardwood. Sutton holds a 9-6 edge in the previous 15 meetings, including a 7-4 mark at their current schools. The two legendary coaches have combined to coach in 2,305 games and have led their teams to 1,657 combined wins. Both were mentored by Henry Iba. Sutton played for Mr. Iba at Oklahoma A&M, while Mr. Iba served as an honorary coach for Knight during the 1984 Olympics. Sutton's 1,100th Game
Saturday's game at Texas Tech will be Coach Eddie Sutton's 1,100th career game coached. He began his career in 1969 at Creighton with an 84-64 win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh and currently ranks eighth in most games coached all-time in NCAA history. The game at Kansas State next Saturday will be his 1,102nd, tying him with Norman Stewart. OnWednesday, Feb. 8, the Cowboys will host Oklahoma in Coach Sutton's 1,103rd career game. That will tie him with Henry Iba for the sixth most games coached in NCAA Division I history.
About the Red Raiders
Texas Tech is 10-9 overall and 2-3 in Big 12 Conference action this season. The Red Raiders are led by Jarrius Jackson who is averaging 19.1 points per game and leads the team with 54 assists. Martin Zeno is also averaging double figures at 16.3 points per contest and leads the team in rebounding, averaging 5.4 per contest. Tech has lost its last two games, both on the road at Texas and at Oklahoma. The Raiders are 9-1 at home, their lone loss being a 68-53 loss to Louisiana Tech on Dec. 7.
Series History with Texas Tech
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Texas Tech 25-10, including a 6-4 mark in Lubbock. The Cowboys have won the last five games and 16 of the last 20. OSU defeated Tech 72-68 in the finals of the Big 12 Championship last season in Kansas City, and also won the last meeting in Lubbock, a 76-66 win on Jan. 8, 2005. The Red Raiders' longest streak was a five-game string of wins that included the first two games when both teams became a part of the Big 12 Conference.
