Cowgirls Head To Kansas To Battle Jayhawks
January 20, 2006 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (6-10, 0-5) will take on its second consecutive Big 12 North Division opponent on Sunday when it travels to Lawrence, Kan., to face Kansas (12-3, 1-3) at 1 p.m. in Allen Fieldhouse. The Cowgirls are coming off their fifth consecutive loss after falling to Kansas State on Wednesday in Stillwater, while the Jayhawks have dropped three in a row after last Sunday's setback against Texas A&M.
Scouting The Jayhawks
Kansas enters Sunday's contest on a three-game slide after opening the season with wins in its first 12 contests, all of which were played in Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks opened Big 12 play with a win against Texas before road losses against Nebraska and Colorado. KU's loss last week against Texas A&M was its first of the season at home. Senior Crystal Kemp paces the Jayhawks at 19.5 points per game, placing her third in the league in scoring. Kemp is also grabbing a team-best 8.2 rebounds per game, giving her the seventh-best average in the Big 12. Kansas holds a 26-19 advantage in the all-time series with the Cowgirls and won the last matchup in Lawrence, a 74-61 triumph in 2004. However, the Cowgirls have won four of the last six overall and last won a road game in the series in 2002.
Up Next
The Cowgirls will return home to take on Texas Tech on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
What 2 Watch 4
An OSU win would snap a 12-game skid against Big 12 schools ... a win would be the second consecutive for the Cowgirls against KU ... a win would be OSU's first in Lawrence since 2002.
