Cowgirl Basketball Set For Bedlam
January 13, 2006 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (6-8, 0-3) will be in search of its first conference win of the season on Saturday when No. 16 Oklahoma (12-4, 2-0) comes calling at 1 p.m. for the latest installment of the Bedlam Series. The Cowgirls are coming off a midweek loss at Baylor, while the Sooners will be looking to rebound from a Monday night setback at Ohio State. Saturday's contest will be televised by Fox Sports Net. Kevin Eschenfelder will handle the play-by-play duties while Brenda VanLengen will provide the expert analysis.
Scouting The Sooners
The Sooners will be the second consecutive ranked opponent the Cowgirls have faced and third overall. OU has navigated a formidable schedule this season, taking on five ranked opponents thus far. Freshman Courtney Paris is leading the league in both scoring (21.4 ppg) and rebounding (14.7 rpg), while junior Leah Rush is adding 11.4 points per contest. The Sooners have already played eight true road contests this year, posting a 5-3 record. Head coach Sherri Coale's squad got Big 12 play started with an 87-67 victory at Iowa State before an 84-61 home win last Saturday against Colorado. The Sooners hold a 41-34 advantage in the all-time series and have claimed the last 13 meetings against the Cowgirls.
Up Next
The Cowgirls will remain at home for a Jan. 18 contest against Kansas State at 7 p.m.
