Cowboys Face Bears in Waco
Oklahoma State travels to Waco, Texas, this weekend to face the Baylor Bears on Saturday, Jan. 14, inside the Ferrell Center. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m., and the game will be televised by ESPN Regional. OSU is 11-5 overall this season and 1-1 in Big 12 Conference action after an exciting 79-77 win over Texas A&M in Stillwater on Wednesday night. Baylor lost its first game of the season Wednesday night, falling to Texas Tech in Lubbock, 79-61. The Bears did not play a non-conference schedule due to NCAA sanctions.
On Television
Saturdays game will be broadcast live as part of the Big 12 Conferences television package with ESPN Regional. Dave Armstrong will handle the play-by-play duties while Reid Gettys will provide expert analysis. It is the first of six ESPN Regional games for the Cowboys this season. In Oklahoma City and Stillwater, the game will be aired on KOCB TV-34. In Tulsa, the game will be on NBC affiliate KJRH Channel 2. The game will also be televised nationally as part of the ESPN FullCourt package.
Last Time Out
Freshman Terrel Harris scored a career-high 21 points, including the Cowboys first nine, as Oklahoma State squeaked out a 79-77 win over upstart Texas A&M Wednesday night inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Harris hit three shots from long range in just over three minutes and finished 4-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc. OSU shot 57.1 percent as a team but allowed the Aggies to shoot 52 percent themselves. It was a defensive stand, however, that won the game for the Pokes. Acie Law, who scored a career-high 35 points against OSU, made a desperation attempt at the buzzer that missed. Mario Boggan added 16 points while Torre Johnson added 12 off the bench and JamesOn Curry scored 11. Curry hounded Law on the final attempt after Jamaal Brown and Byron Eaton attempted to defend him most of the night.
About the Bears
Baylor lost its season opener on Wednesday night, losing to Texas Tech in Lubbock 79-61. Aaron Bruce led the way for the Bears scoring 20 points and dishing out six assists. Tim Bush was the only other player to score in double figures with 12. Baylor shot 38.3 percent from the floor, including 7-of-20 from long range. The Bears were also outrebounded, 45-26. They committed just eight turnovers. Baylor had nine players step foot on the court, and six of those were underclassmen. Scott Drew is head coach of the Bears, in his second year in charge of the program.
Series History with Baylor
Oklahoma State is 43-12 all-time against Baylor, including a 15-9 mark in Waco. The Cowboys have won the last four meetings and 15 of the last 16. Since the Big 12 formed in 1996-97, OSU is 17-3 vs. the Bears. Coach Eddie Sutton is 18-3 against BU since returning to Stillwater, and is 35-8 all-time against Baylor including his stint at Arkansas as part of the Southwest Conference.
