Byrnes and Van Elden Drop NCAA First Round Match
May 27, 2005 | Cowboy Tennis
Oklahoma State's 55th-ranked doubles tandem of Mark Van Elden and Daniel Byrnes made an early exit from the NCAA Tournament today, dropping a three set first round match to defending national champions Sam Warburg and KC Corkery of Stanford at Texas A&M's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Cowboys used a pair of service breaks to take the first set from the second-seeded Cardinal duo, but won only one game in each of the final two sets en route to the 6-4, 1-6, 1-6 loss.
The loss marks the end of a successful 2005 campaign that saw the Cowboy tennis team finish with a 22-7 record, an NCAA team berth and three individuals in the NCAA Tournament.
