Men's Tennis to Host Arkansas
April 05, 2005 | Cowboy Tennis
The 11th-ranked Cowboys (14-5, 4-2) split weekend matches with No. 27 Texas and No. 15 Texas A&M. OSU topped the Longhorns 5-2 on Saturday before losing 5-2 to the Aggies on Sunday. Seniors Mark Van Elden and Boris Kuharic each notched wins over ranked opponents, beating No. 25 Callum Beale and No. 85 Roger Gubser of Texas, respectively.
Arkansas is 3-13 on the season after a 4-3 loss at No. 4 Mississippi on Sunday. Adrians Zguns, Rohan Gajjar and Matt Roberts make up a strong trio for the Razorbacks at the top of the singles lineup. All three have been ranked this season, and Gajjar currently sits at No. 75 individually. Zguns has been ranked as high as eighth during his career.
This will mark the fourth meeting in 14 months between the schools. Arkansas got the best of the Cowboys in the regular season last year in Tulsa, and knocked OSU out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, both by 4-3 margins. The Cowboys exacted some revenge by picking up a 4-1 decision in Fayetteville in the fall to win the Central Region and advance to the ITA National Indoors.
Arkansas holds a 15-8 advantage in the all-time series.
In case of inclement weather, the match may be moved indoors to Tulsa or be canceled.
