Cowboy Tennis Heads to Texas in Search of Conference Title
April 28, 2005 | Cowboy Tennis
The Cowboys finished the regular season on Tuesday with a 5-0 win at home over Wichita State to improve to 19-5 on the season. Their 5-2 conference mark earned a share of second place with Texas A&M and Texas Tech and a No. 3 seed in this weekend's tournament.
Oklahoma finished tied for fifth in the Big 12 with 2-5 record and earned the tournament's sixth seed. The Sooners boast a 17-5 overall mark and are currently ranked 47th nationally.
This will be the second meeting between the schools this season, with OSU winning a 4-3 match in Norman on April 20. The Cowboys have won the last 12 matches in the series dating back to 1995.
With a victory over Oklahoma, OSU will take on the winner of second-seeded Texas A&M and No. 7 Colorado at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Cowboys lost to A&M 5-2 in Stillwater this year, and picked up a 4-3 decision over Colorado in Boulder.
Baylor is the defending tournament champion and this year's top seed. The Bears won the only meeting this year, 4-3 in Ennis, Texas.
