Cowgirl Basketball Adds Two Junior College Standouts

Foster played the last two seasons at Seward County (Kan.) Community College for current OSU associate head coach Jim Littell. The 6-2 center averaged 14 points and eight rebounds this past season while shooting 57 percent from the floor. During her two-year career, the Lady Saints posted a combined record of 67-8 while earning back-to-back Jayhawk West Conference titles and Region VI Tournament crowns. Seward County also made a pair of appearances in the NJCAA National Tournament, reaching the quarterfinals in 2004 and earned a fifth-place finish this past year.
A native of Utica, Kansas, Foster was named a WBCA/Kodak All-American, an honorable mention NJCAA All-American and a member of the Region VI All-Tournament Team on her way to being tabbed as the tournament's most valuable player. She chose the Cowgirls over Southwest Missouri State.
“The first thing we saw when we got here was our lack of a power player and Amanda solves that,” Budke said. “She is a strong, tough-minded kid that can get in and mix it up strength-wise in the Big 12.”
“She is a proven winner and has a great work ethic. She adds a dimension a lot of post players don't have with her ability to step out and shoot the three,” Littell added.
Silva comes to the OSU program fresh off a 34-1 season and national championship run at Central Arizona College. The 5-6 guard poured in a game-high 23 points, including a 5-of-11 effort from beyond the 3-point line, in CAC's 83-50 win over Southern Idaho in the title game.
The Sinaloa, Mexico, native averaged 16.3 points, 6.1 assists, 3.3 steals and 2.7 rebounds per game this past season while earning first-team all-conference honors and capturing the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference's Player of the Year honor.
A 39 percent shooter from the 3-point line, Silva drilled 10 3-pointers in a game this past season on her way to a 40-point outing that eclipsed the school's all-time single-game scoring mark. In addition, she prepped at Garfield High School in Los Angles and led L.A. County in scoring as a senior.
“Brisa is a legitimate 3-point shooter that can beat you with the three,” Budke said. “She is a tremendous passer that can get the ball into the post as well. She is a winner and that is what we are looking for.”
The duo will join the OSU program this fall and have two years of eligibility remaining.
