Cowboy Tennis Heads South to Take on TCU
April 14, 2005 | Cowboy Tennis
The 14th-ranked Cowboys improved to 16-5 on the year with a 4-3 win over Tulsa on Wednesday in a match that was seen live on Cox Cable. Mark Van Elden, Boris Kuharic, Tomas Bohunicky and Daniel Byrnes each posted straight set singles wins in the match.
The Horned Frogs are 6-12 overall after halting an 11-match losing streak with a 6-1 win over SMU on Wednesday. TCU has played one of the toughest schedules in the country, with losses to seven of the top 10 teams nationally.
Fabrizio Sestini is the Frogs' top singles player and is ranked 31st in the latest ITA singles poll. He will likely face Van Elden at the top singles spot in a clash of top 35 opponents. Sestini pairs up with Rafael Abreu to form the No. 11 doubles tandem in the country. They are scheduled to take on Kuharic and Felipe Diaz at the top doubles spot.
TCU holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series and won the most recent meeting, 4-0 in 2001.
This will be the final match before the Cowboys travel to Oklahoma on April 20 for Bedlam.
