Cowgirls Eliminated By Huskers At Big 12 Tournament
March 09, 2005 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 60-45 loss on Tuesday night to Nebraska in the first round of the Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament being held in Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium.
The Cowgirls (7-20 overall, 2-14 Big 12) overcame poor shooting in the first half to enter the break tied at 29 with the Huskers (17-12, 8-8). OSU connected on just 12 of its 32 (37.5 percent) shots in the stanza, but was able to hold Nebraska to a 38.2 percent (13-of-34) clip to avoid going into the halftime locker room with a deficit for the first time since the Cowgirls' win over Texas-Pan American on Jan. 2.
OSU's cold shooting carried over into the second half as it opened the period with just one field goal in 10 attempts and could muster just three points in the first 8:35 as the Huskers built an eight-point lead. The Cowgirls would go on to make only seven of their 30 shot attempts (23.3 percent) on their way to a 16-point output during the final 20 minutes.
Nebraska would extend the lead to double figures for the first time at the 10:27 mark on a jumper by Chelsea Aubry, who finished with a game-high 15 points, and would lead by no less than seven the rest of the way.
Freshman Taleesha Conder led the Cowgirls in scoring for the eighth time this season with 14 points, while senior Nina Stone added 12 in her final game in an OSU uniform.
