Cowgirls Face Kansas State in Home Opener

The Cowgirls (3-6, 0-3) will be looking for their first conference win of the season. OSU fell at No. 39 Texas A&M on Saturday, 5-2.
“We are very optimistic about our chances against Kansas State tomorrow,” said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “We have been preparing very hard and will be ready to put on a quality match.”
Kansas State (4-3, 1-0) is coming off of a 5-2 victory against Texas Tech.
“Kansas State is a much improved team from a year ago,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “We are going to need solid performances from all of our girls in order to get a victory.”
The Cowgirls are led by freshman Iryna Tkachenko at the top singles and doubles positions. Tkachenko (8-1) jumped into the nation's Top-100 with a victory over No. 54 Anna Lubinsky of Texas A&M.
Tkachenko is currently ranked No. 93, the highest ranking for a Cowgirl since Linda Faltynkova entered the polls at No. 74 in the 2002-03 campaign.
