Cowboys host Sooners in Bedlam II
Oklahoma State hosts the Oklahoma Sooners in the second game of Bedlam action Monday night inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff for the Big Monday broadcast is set for 8 p.m., and the game will be televised by ESPN. The Cowboys are 17-3 overall and 7-2 in Big 12 Conference action after an 81-63 win over Baylor in Waco Saturday evening. OU is 17-4 overall and 6-2 in league play after an 88-81 loss to Texas Tech in Norman on Saturday night. Oklahoma leads the all-time Bedlam series, 119-86, but OSU is 55-40 against the Sooners in Stillwater.
Last game
Oklahoma State had five players score in double figures, inclduing 18 points and seven rebounds by Ivan McFarlin, as the Cowboys defeated Baylor, 81-63, Saturday evening in Waco. The Pokes had a 31 point lead with 12:43 remaining in the game before OSU seemed to lose interest. After cutting the lead down to 27 with just under five minutes to play, the Bears outscored Oklahoma State, Baylor outscored the Cowboys, 16-4 over the next 3-1/2 minutes. Baylors Aaron Bruce scored 22 of the Bears final 27 points for a game-high 33 on 11-of-18 shooting, including 5-of-6 from long range. The Cowboys shot 73.9 percent from the floor in the first period, connecting on all but six of 23 shots from the field. OSU was 9-of-12 from beyond the three-point arc in the first period and held a 47-26 lead at intermission. Oklahoma State finished the game shooting 57.1 percent, dropped after an 11-of-26 performance in the second stanza. OSU did outrebound the Bears, 28-21, and forced 25 Baylor turnovers. However, the Pokes had 23 themselves, and committed 24 fouls. John Lucas and JamesOn Curry each had 14 points for OSU, while Stephen Graham finished with 14.
OSU-OU on television
Oklahoma States game against Oklahoma will be televised by ESPN as part of its Big Monday package. Ron Franklin will handle the play-by-play duties, while Fran Fraschilla will provide color commentary. Stacey Dales-Schuman will add sideline analysis. It is the Cowboys third Big Monday game of the season, and the ninth OSU game televised nationally by the ESPN family of networks. The Cowboys are making their 17th appearance on television this season, with all six remaining games also scheduled to be televised.
Series vs. the Sooners
Oklahoma leads the all-time series with Oklahoma State, 119-86, including a 67-57 win over the Cowboys earlier this season in Norman. OSU is 55-40 against OU in Stillwater, and has won the last four meetings in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys are 9-8 against the Sooners since the Big 12 formed in 1996-97, and are 18-13 against OU since Eddie Suttons return to Oklahoma State. This is the 207th meeting between these two schools on the hardwood.
Down the road
Oklahoma State will finally get a break after a brutal stretch of four games in the last nine days. Coming up, the Cowboys will play only three games over the next 19 days. Next up for OSU will be Texas A&M (15-5, 4-5) on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m. in College Station, Texas. Oklahoma State will return home for a game with Texas Tech (14-5, 6-2) on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 2:30 p.m. in a game televised by CBS.
