Cowboys face Bears for second time this season
Oklahoma State travels to Waco, Texas, this weekend to take on the Baylor Bears for the second time this season. Tipoff for Saturdays game is set for 6 p.m., and the game will be televised by the Cowboy Television Network. OSU is 16-3 overall and 6-2 in league action, coming off a 77-57 win over Kansas State Wednesday night in Stillwater. The Bears are 9-9 overall and 1-6 in league play, coming off a 77-51 loss at Iowa State on Tuesday night. The Cowboys lead the all-time series with Baylor, 42-12, including a 14-9 mark in Waco.
Last game
Oklahoma State had three players record double-doubles, and used a 17-3 run in the second period to take a commanding lead and eventually defeat the Kansas State Wildcats, 77-57, Wednesday night inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Joey Graham had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Daniel Bobik added 13 points and a career-high 11 boards, and John Lucas scored 19 points and dished out a season-high 10 assists. The Pokes took a seven-point lead at the 13:39 mark on a three by freshman JamesOn Curry. The two teams went back and forth before OSU entered the lockerroom with a 36-30 lead. KSU went on a 7-2 run to cut the lead to one at the 16:28 mark, but over the next 5-1/2 minutes, OSU went on a 17-3 run of its own to put the Wildcats away for good. Curry, in his second start as a Cowboy, scored eight points, as did Terrence Crawford coming off the bench. K-States Jeremiah Massey scored a game-high 25 points, but OSU was 11-of-20 from beyond the three-point arc and hit 16-of-18 shots from the free throw line. The Pokes also outrebounded the Cats, 35-25, and scored 22 points off 16 KSU turnovers.
OSU-Baylor on television
OSUs game at Baylor on Saturday will be televised by the Cowboy Sports Network, produced by Cox Communications out of Tulsa. John Holcomb of Tulsas KOTV will handle the play-by-play duties, while former Cowboy Bryndon Manzer will provide expert analysis. It will mark OSUs fourth game of the season televised by CSN, and the 16th Cowboy game televised this season.
Series vs. the Bears
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Baylor, 42-12, including a 14-9 mark in Waco. OSU has won the last three meetings, and is 14-1 in the last 15 contests. Since the Big 12 formed in 1996-97, the Cowboys are 16-3 vs. their South Division foes. Coach Eddie Sutton is 34-8 all-time against BU, including a 17-3 mark while at OSU. That overall record includes a 17-5 mark while at Arkansas. Oklahoma State has won the last six meetings in the Ferrell Center, including a 72-65 win last year. OSU won the earlier meeting this season between the two schools, 82-53.
Down the road
Oklahoma State will host the Oklahoma Sooners (17-3, 6-1) in an ESPN Big Monday matchup on Feb. 7. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. The game will end the brutal stretch of four games in nine days. Following the OU game, the Cowboys will play only three games over the next 19 days. Next up for OSU will be Texas A&M on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m. in College Station, Texas. Oklahoma State will return home for a game with Texas Tech on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 2:30 p.m. on CBS.
