February 15, 2005 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (7-14 overall, 2-9 Big 12) will travel to Ames, Iowa on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tip against the 19th-ranked Iowa State Cyclones (18-4, 8-3). Both teams enter the matchup looking to rebound from losses as the Cowgirls fell, 87-51 at Baylor on Saturday, while ISU suffered an 88-59 setback at Nebraska over the weekend.
ABOUT IOWA STATE
For the first time this season, Iowa State is coming off back-to-back losses after Saturday's aforementioned defeat at the hands of the Cornhuskers. In addition to Nebraska, the Cyclones also have road losses against Iowa, Kansas State and Texas Tech. ISU is the second consecutive OSU opponent that sports an undefeated home record on the year as the Cyclones have won all 12 of their contests in Hilton Coliseum. Senior Anne O'Neil is the squad's leading scorer at 17.1 points per game and is hitting 52 percent (47-of-90) of her 3-point attempts. As a team, the Cyclones have made 41 more treys on the season than any other school in the league, connecting on 201 of their 515 attempts for a 9.14 made threes per game average.
OSU AND ISUÂTHE SERIES
The Cowgirls hold a 23-17 advantage in the series against ISU after knocking off the Cylcones, 74-59, last year in Stillwater. OSU has emerged victorious in 10 of its 18 trips to Ames, but has been unsuccessful in its last four trips to Hilton Coliseum. The Cowgirls last road victory in the series was a 59-57 triumph in 1996.
