Men's Tennis Chops Down Sycamores, 7-0

Oklahoma State's 26th-ranked men's tennis team faced little challenge today en route to defeating Indiana State, 7-0, in Broken Arrow, Okla.
The Cowboys breezed through singles play, winning five of six matches in straight sets.
At the No. 1 position, senior Mark Van Elden lost only one game on his way to a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory over Anton Tsymbalov. Tomas Bohunicky picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 2 position, and Boris Kuharic defeated Christopher Eldon, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
The toughest match of the day was at No. 4 singles, where sophomore Artie Burmistrau went into a tiebreaker before knocking off Aaron Phillips, 4-6, 6-3 (10-5).
At Nos. 5 and 6 singles, Felipe Diaz and Daniel Byrnes each cruised to straight set victories.
The Cowboys also won the doubles point with solid performances from Van Elden and Byrnes at the No. 1 position and Bohunicky and Burmistrau at the No. 3 spot.
“All the guys played great,” assistant coach Yevgen Bondarchuk said. “It was good to see Mark and Daniel play well at No. 1 doubles.”
