Cowboys host Wildcats in league action
Oklahoma State entertains the Kansas State Wildcats on Wednesday, Feb. 2, inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is set for 6:04 p.m., and the game will be televised by ESPN Regional. OSU is 15-3 overall and 5-2 in Big 12 Conference action this season after a hectic 104-86 win over Colorado in Boulder Sunday afternoon. K-State is 13-4 overall and 3-3 in league play, coming off an impressive 64-53 victory over the Missouri Tigers in Columbia on Saturday. The Wildcats lead the all-time series with OSU, 68-42, but the Pokes lead the series in Stillwater, 25-24.

JamesOn Curry earned his first start as a Cowboy, and took advantage of the opportunity. The freshman guard scored a career-best 22 points, including 17 in the second half, as the Cowboys scored their most points in a game this season and defeated the Colorado Buffaloes, 104-86. CU connected on a school-record 17 three pointers, but OSU made 13 of its own, including six by Curry and four by John Lucas, who scored a season-high 26 points. Oklahoma State shot 60 percent from the floor and was 13-of-21 from beyond the arc. The Pokes also outrebounded the Buffs, 36-23. Ivan McFarlin added 17 points and nine rebounds for OSU, while Joey Graham had 14 points and nine boards and Daniel Bobik chipped in 13 points off the bench. Curry and Lucas combined for 12 assists and just one turnover, as the Pokes committed just 10 miscues. Colorado was just as hot shooting, connecting on 52.5 percent of its shots from the floor, including 17-of-29 (58.6 percent) from long range. CU also had five players score in double figures, led by 19 each from Chris Copeland and Andy Osborn, who combined with Richard Roby for 13-of-18 shooting from behind the three-point line.

Oklahoma States 104 points were the most by the Cowboys since scoring 125 vs. Langston (65) on Jan. 5, 2000 ... it was the most points scored by an OSU squad vs. a Division I opponent since scoring 111 against LSU (67) on Dec. 20, 1994 ... it was the most points scored on a league opponent since Jan. 8, 1994, when the Cowboys defeated Oklahoma, 105-89 ... OSUs 104 points were the most ever by a Cowboy squad against Colorado; the previous high was 101 on Dec. 30, 1974 ... the 30 three pointers made by OSU and Colorado combined are believed to be a league record.
OSU-KSU on television
OSUs game against Kansas State on Wednesday will be televised by ESPN Regional. Doug Bell will handle the play-by-play duties, while Reid Gettys will provide expert analysis. It will mark OSUs third appearance of the season on ESPN Regional, and the 15th Cowboy game televised this season.
Series vs. the Wildcats
Kansas State leads the all-time series with Oklahoma State, 68-42. However, since the 1989-90 season, the Cowboys hold a commanding 20-6 margin in the series. In fact, since Coach Suttons return to OSU, the Pokes are 18-5 vs. the Wildcats. Overall, Oklahoma State leads the series in Stillwater by a slim 25-24 margin. KSUs last win in Gallagher-Iba Arena came on Jan. 9, 1993, when the Cats won, 75-62, in overtime. O-State has won seven consecutive over Kansas State in Stillwater, including a 63-55 victory in 2003. OSU won last years meeting in Manhattan, 57-56. Since the Big 12 formed in 1996-97, OSU is 7-1 vs. K-State.
Sutton ranks seventh all-time
With the Cowboys over Iowa State, Coach Eddie Sutton earned his 768th win as a Division I coach, surpassing his mentor, Henry Iba, on the all-time coaching victories list. Sutton currently sits in seventh place on the all-time NCAA Division I career victories list with 770 wins. Sutton played for Mr. Iba from 1956-59, and was an assistant for the Iron Duke one season. Coach Sutton is 769-295 in his 35 year career at the Division I level. Mr. Iba was 767-338 in his 41 year career as a Division I coach at Northwest Missouri State, Colorado and what was then Oklahoma A&M. His career spanned six decades, from 1929-70. Next up for Coach Sutton is Lou Henson, who had 779 wins in his career before his retirement earlier this season.
Down the road
The Oklahoma State Cowboys travel to Waco, Texas, to face the Baylor Bears (9-8, 1-5) on Saturday, Feb. 5, in the Ferrell Center. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m., and the game will be televised by the Cowboys Sports Network. Two days later, OSU will host the Oklahoma Sooners in a Big Monday matchup on Feb. 7. That will end the brutal stretch of four games in nine days. Following the OU game, the Cowboys will play only three games over the next 19 days.
