Cowgirl Basketball Set to Take on UNC Wilmington
December 09, 2005 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (2-4) will take on UNC Wilmington (3-1) on Saturday in Stillwater in the first of the squad's two games this weekend. The Cowgirls and Seahawks will square off at 2 p.m. OSU will close out the weekend on Sunday with a 2 p.m. contest against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Scouting the Seahawks
The Seahawks bounced back from their first loss of the season with a victory over William and Mary on Sunday. UNCW opened the season with wins over South Carolina State and Coastal Carolina before suffering their lone setback of the season against Charlotte. The Seahawks have one player, Sahsha Taylor, averaging double figures in scoring at 12.3 points per game. Taylor is also the squad's leading rebounder at 7.5 boards per contest. UNCW is holding its opposition to just 55 points per game and a 36 percent field goal percentage on the season. Saturday's meeting will be the first-ever between the Cowgirls and Seahawks. Games against Big 12 foes have been a rarity for UNCW as this will be just the school's third against a Big 12 school in its history.
Up Next
The Cowgirls will be back in action Sunday afternoon with a 2 p.m. tilt against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Stillwater. OSU will then close out its six-game homestand on Dec. 19 against Memphis.
What 2 Watch 4
OSU is looking to win consecutive games for the first time since winning two-straight contests in January of 2004 when they knocked off then-No. 3 Texas Tech and Iowa State in consecutive outings ... UNCW junior Lori Drake spent the 2003-04 season playing at Seward County Community College under current OSU associate head coach Jim Littell.
