Cowgirls Resume Action Against Prairie View A&M
December 27, 2005 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (5-5) will close out its non-conference schedule on Thursday when it plays host to Prairie View A&M (1-8) at 7 p.m. The Cowgirls are coming off a 63-57 loss at Wichita State on Dec. 22 that snapped a four-game winning streak, while the Lady Panthers come to town having lost eight in a row after falling to North Texas on Dec. 22.
Scouting the Lady Panthers
Prairie View has not won in its last eight outings after defeating Texas-Pan American on Nov. 21 in its season opener. Thursday's contest will also mark the conclusion of non-conference action for the Lady Panthers as they prepare to begin SWAC play. Sophomore Ciara Sanders leads the squad in scoring at 14.8 points per game, while freshman Twila Stokes is grabbing a team-best 9.8 rebounds per game. Stokes made a splash in her first collegiate game, grabbing a school-record 19 boards in the squad's season opener. A familiar face in women's basketball circles is roaming the sidelines for PVAMU as Cynthia Cooper is in her first season as the Lady Panthers' head coach. Cooper finished her illustrious playing career in the WNBA with two MVP awards, three consecutive scoring titles and three starts in the WNBA All-Star Game as a member of the Houston Comets. In addition, she coached the Phoenix Mercury.
