Cowboys open 2005-06 season with a bang, 107-64

JamesOn Curry scored 20 points and Mario Boggan added 14 as Oklahoma State got off to a slow start, then rolled past Oklahoma City 107-64 in an exhibition game Tuesday night.
The Cowboys fell behind by seven points early, but got started once Curry scored. Curry and Jamaal Brown had fast-break layups during an 8-0 run that put Oklahoma State ahead 23-22.
Curry, the only starter returning from a team that went to the NCAA tournament's round of 16 last season, then converted a three-point play to spark a string of 11 straight points to put the Cowboys up 39-30. They wouldn't trail again.
Oklahoma State led 44-36 at halftime then opened the second half with a 15-2 run capped by Torre Johnson's two-handed alley-oop jam.
By the time Aaron Pettway electrified the crowd with a right-handed jam, an acrobatic block of Ryan Godwin's 3-pointer and a two-handed alley-oop jam on an inbounds pass, the Cowboys slow start was long behind them.
David Monds and Roderick Flemings each added 12 points, Harris scored 11 and Brown finished with 10 for the Cowboys, who lost seven seniors from last year's team and brought in three junior college transfers and five freshmen.
Dawud Drew scored 22 points to lead Oklahoma City, an NAIA school, Godwin added 12 and Trevor Meier finished with 11 points.
