Byrnes Eliminated in Semifinals of Consolation Play

Byrnes was defeated by Duke's Jonathan Stokke in a tight match. The junior won the first set 6-3 but lost the next two by tiebreakers, 7-6 (9), 7-6 (4) and was eliminated.
Byrnes defeated Pepperdine's Pedro Rico , 7-6 (3), 6-3, in the quarterfinals and Ohio State's Bryan Koniecko, again in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5, in the first round. The Melbourne, Australia native finished the fall with an 8-2 record.
Teammate Tomas Bohunicky was defeated in the first round of the consolations by Ohio State's Devin Mullings, 6-3, 6-3. Byrnes and Bohunicky were both eliminated in the first round of the main draw.
