Cowgirl Rally Comes Up Short Against Arkansas-Little Rock
November 30, 2005 | Cowgirl Basketball
The Trojans (4-1) took advantage of 13 OSU turnovers and reeled off a 24-4 run to build a 38-17 lead with two minutes remaining in the first half. However, the Cowgirls (1-3) scored the last eight points of the stanza, including a pair of threes by junior Brisa Silva, to head into the break down 38-25.
All 25 of OSU's points in the half came courtesy of three players. Junior Whitney Pegram led the way with 11 points, including nine of the squad's first 13 to start the game.
The rally continued after the intermission as Silva connected on two more treys early in the second half to cut the deficit to seven before Pegram knotted the score at 44 apiece with a layup at the 11:31 mark. However, UALR's Laura Throesch drilled a 3-pointer on the next possession to put the Trojans in front for good.
Pegram led all scorers with 24 points on an 8-of-14 performance from the floor for her third 20-point outing of the season. The Silver Lake, Kan., native also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Silva added a career-high 17 points on the night after hitting five of her six shot attempts from beyond the arc, while senior Catherria Turner grabbed seven rebounds and dished out a game-high six assists in 40 minutes of action.
Heather Morris paced UALR with 20 points on the evening.
The Cowgirls will return to action this weekend when they host Tulsa at 3:30 p.m. in the Bertha Teague Classic.
